Polish Football Ambassador Passes Suddenly

 

The M.D., born in Ełk, Poland whose passion was sport and favorite sport was American football. Jacek was responsible for American Section of Polish Association of American Football and long time Sports editor for Polish News.

DETROIT– During the Boxing Day NCAA Quicken Lane Bowl game in Detroit between Rutgers and North Carolina, longtime football promoter Jacek Urbańczyk was remembered. The press box at Ford Field took a moment of silence to remember Urbańczyk who passed away suddenly near Białystok, Poland. He had been a long time student of American football while living and covering games in Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale and Detroit. He was an active advocate for advanced training methods for the developing youth football programs in Poland. Since 2008 he was a valued and avid ambassador for the Polish League of American Football.

After serving with the Polish Army, Urbańczyk took up bilingual sports journalism. He filed many bylines for Quarteback.pl, the Polish News in Chicago and the national Rolco Sports and Entertainment service. Urbańczyk also helped numerous amateur boxing contenders in the Chicago area with his unique rehabilitation regiments. Most recently he worked in a private medical clinic in Wiżajny, Poland.
