Polish Constitution

Dr. Andrzej Pronczuk, President, Polish Cultural Foundation of Boston, announced recently the publication of the second edition (first edition was sold out) of the photographic exhibit catalogue of the May 3rd, 1791 Polish Constitution.  The catalogue is based upon an exhibit bearing the same name, which was recently displayed at Harvard University as part of our national May 3rd celebration.  Dr. Pronczuk serves as the Exhibit Curator and Mr. Szymon Tolak as the Graphic Editor.

Through text as well as photos of paintings from the Warsaw National Museum, Royal Castle and Polish Army Museum, the catalogue, in book form, dramatically illustrates and describes the events and conditions, which enabled the creation of the Polish Constitution.  That document is widely known to be the first democratic constitution in Europe and only the second in the world, after the Constitution of the United States of America.  The book describes and depicts the adoption of the Constitution by the Sejm (Parliament) as well as the invasion of Poland by Russia a year later and the subsequent abolishment of the Constitution.

The Catalogue also includes the full text of the May 3rd Polish Constitution in its original language and in English.  The 8” x 11” publication is printed on premium glossy paper and is priced at only $15 plus shipping.  Copies may be ordered by e-mail at: [email protected] or by phone 617-696-9009.

This remarkable book, that vividly recites an illustrious event in Poland’s history, deserves to be found in every Polish-American home and makes an excellent gift.  It is suggested that individuals or Polonia organizations may wish to offer copies to local libraries, Polish Parochial Schools and Polish Saturday Schools.
