Paczki Day – Fat Thursday with Governor Rauner

This Polish tradition helps support the Polish American Association 's programs and services. PAA serves about 10,000 clients in four areas of Education, Employment, Training, Supportive Services, Immigration, Clinical Services at two locations in Chicago. PAA programs and services serve to empower people as individuals so that they may reach their full potential in all aspects of their lives, helping them to create a pathway to a better future. Governor stated that he came directly from intensive sessions in Springfield. The state government looks for ways to meet financial obligations.

There are over $ 6 billions unpaid bills for the programs and services. PAA works with over 200 agencies and organizations throughout the Greater Chicago Community in providing services for clients. PAA was established in 1922. It has strong roots in the Polish American Community. Their programs and services are open to people in need from different ethnic/racial backgrounds.

Governor Rauner visit in PAA – which is social services agency – is another positive sign in his search to find balance between efficiency in running state agencies with compassion and support for people in need. The task is not easy but possible. The event was attended by the Board Members of PAA, staff, community leaders, Ald. Suarez, Reboyras and others. We wish Governor success in finding new economic, social solutions for people in Chicago and in Illinois.
