Polish Americans sometimes wonder whether it should be called Easter breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, but in Polish it is simply Swiecone — the sacred things, the delicacies that have been blessed by a priest on Holy Saturday and grace the family’s Easter table. The one thing that never changes is that these culinary delights are the first food sampled after coming home from mass on Easter morning. The 40-day Lenten fast is officially broken with the sharing of blessed Easter eggs.
