Invitation for the concert “A Polish Celebration”

Victor Yampolsky will conduct the orchestra. He is the Carol F. and Arthur L. Rice Jr. University Professor in Music Performance, the Conducting and Ensembles director of orchestras at the Northwestern University School of Music, and the music director of the Peninsula Music Festival in Door County, Wisconsin.

The performance, supported by the Consulate General of Poland, will feature violin soloist Alyssa Park. In 1990, at the age of sixteen, she became the youngest prizewinner in the history of the Tchaikovsky International Competition. Since then, she has performed throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America with the Czech Philharmonic, the Cincinnati Symphony, the Japan Philharmonic, and the Lisbon Symphony, among others. She premiered Penderecki’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with the Polish Radio Orchestra, conducted by the composer himself.

Tickets for “A Polish Celebration” are $12 for the general public, $9 for senior citizens, and $6 for students.
