The Republican Party Committee wants to verify the sources of additional campaign funding Barack Obama Presidential campaign has received. GOP claims there might be evidence of unknown campaign funding, some even coming from foreigners overseas which is illegal.
On Sunday the National Committee announced that the list of persons from overseas sponsoring the Democratic campaigns does not exist and that the accusations are based on media reports especially Newsmax online portal.
Based on a statement made by the Committee Chairman Sean Cairncross, a request to the Federal Election Committee has been sent to conduct a detailed analysis of funds received for the Obama campaign. He also added that the law does not require itemizing the names of persons donating less than $200. Therefore many of the sponsors remain anonymous. However, Obama campaign has raised $468 million dollars and as much as almost half of this sum comes from small donations.
The Obama campaign stated that there have been a lot of steps taken to prevent oversea and illegal campaign funding but has not yet responded to the accusations.
